FASHIONS FINEST AFRICA 2019 brings an opportunity and a platform for
interactions, networking and cross-pollination of creative ideas and innovations
that will lead to the emergence of new dimensions in the growth of the African
Fashion Industry.
Sola Oyebade the Founder and CEO stated ‘the event continues to grow from strength
to strength and gives opportunities to those across Africa, that would
not normally be
able to participate in an international show’.
Over 5000 people attended the Balmoral Convention Centre for the conference,
exhibition, people’s catwalk, fashion shows, Awards and Fashion Rave.
Friday, May 24 – Sunday, 26, 2019 – Lagos, Nigeria
A crowd of over 5000 engaged, community members came together on Friday through
to Sunday to celebrate the sharing of ideas and great information at the second
annual Fashions Finest Africa event in Lagos, through conference, exhibition booths,
people’s catwalk, Runway shows, Awards and Fashion Rave.
The crowd size was
double that of the first ever show held last year, and was filled with aspiring, emerging
and established Designers and Models, Fashion instructors/mentors, fashion influencers
and make up artists, fashion stylists, fashion bloggers, Photographers, students from
schools and colleges around Nigeria and Africa.
The conference for aspiring, emerging designers and models featured 10 speakers that
ranged from fashion business owners, established models, lawyers, human rights
personnel and modelling agencies owners who discussed various topics that ranged
from sustainable business modules, human rights/trafficking of models, self-esteem and
awareness.
Speakers included, Ugo Monye of Ugo Monye fashion house, Annie Otti of
African Fashion Law, Segun Ajasa of Honey Dough Limited, Kafeel Shittu of Bank of
Industry, Aisha Bello of Star Models Africa, Bolaji Fawehinmi of Few Model Management,
Nnendi Mgbemena of Law Alliiams, Joan Okorodudu of Isis Models Africa, Hajarat May
of Naptip Lagos Com and Elohor Aisien of Beth Model and was hosted by Sola
Oyebade of Fashions Finest Africa and Mahogany Model Management.
The conference was filled with emotion, inspiration, humor and passion. People got to
experience cutting-edge information.
The people’s catwalk, was created to establish an atmosphere where anyone and
everyone who perhaps because of height, size, age, gender etc had been
discouraged or ruled out of modelling to show their catwalk skills. It was judged by the
audience who attended the shows and was concluded on May 25 2019 with a Prize of
One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) in Cash to the Winner.
The Runway shows featured 26 Designers - Aspiring, emerging and established - Waiz
Fashion by Waiz Shelukindo, FLOYDCARDIGANCOLLTN by Veronica Omoniyi Shokoya,
Love Label by Ifeoluwa Olumekun Teniola, Rajuu by Udeme Uffort, SAANDUKS by
Sandra Akhuetie, Lomzy by Uloma Ezike, and Enzoani by Tilga Bridals on Friday, May 24
and on Saturday, May 25 designers were, Valisimo Fashion School by David O. EFosa,
STYLAVENUE SIGNATURE by Elizabeth Temitayo Omuse, Debs Fray by Dolapo Fatoki, Tai
Lore by Tai Osagbemi Tomini, Pepskru by Peps, Sandra O by Sandra Onyemeziri,
Mayowa Oye by Mayowa Oyeniyi, EmaginebyBukola by Bukola Owolabi, vedil Clothing
by Vivian Duru, DIVINE ENDOWMENT KIDS by Remi A Yusuf, Toyin Bii by Toyin Balogun
and Ageless Fashion by Grace Ebere-Amadi.
We had a few established designers walk the runaway, these were, Tolumi TFP by Tolumi
and Cute-Saint by Femi Ajose,
Fashions Finest Awards recognized Africa’s new and emerging talent in the fashion
industry with 22 categories.
