Activities
are well underway for the 6th edition of AFWN, model casting took place on the
14th of November at the LASWA Yard in Ikoyi, Lagos. Over 500 aspiring models
from across the nation and neighbouring countries, filled the Lagos Water Way
Terminal to secure their spot in the upcoming event. Applicants from Cameroon,
Ghana and Benin Republic also made their way to the audition day determined to
make their mark in front of the judges.

The Africa
Fashion Week organisation continues to use its platform to
enable creatives to
showcase their talent and provide an audience for up and coming designers from
various locations. This year's event is taking place at the Oriental Hotel,
Lagos from the 20th to 21st December, boasting a diverse range of designers and
exhibitors hailing from countries across the African continent and beyond.
The
glamorous shoe brand from Botswana Bee
Fab Treader will be at this years’ 2 day event. The bold and beautiful
stiletto designs that have gained popularity in Southern African are making
their way across the rest of the continent and into the international market. Mary Angel, the fashion brand from The
Republic of Burundi works with local Burundian producers to create collections
that have been showcased in Ghana, Rwanda and Tanzania. The young creative
director (Mary Angel) who began in 2017 makes handmade haute couture, made to
measure items and ready to wear collections for men and women. South African
brand Agape Designs by Ntokozo,
founded in 2016, produces collections which are a fusion of androgyny, urban
street style and glamour. Created as a love letter to women, the brand’s
clothes are designed to empower the female gender.



With so many
more designers and brands taking part the 6th edition of Africa Fashion Week
Nigeria, there is lots to look forward to this December.
