The Team behind Uncle Ben’s rice has officially rebranded the food product after many deemed its longtime name and logo to be racially insensitive.
The new name for the brand will be
called Ben’s Originaland will no longer feature an image of an African-American man on its boxes, parent company Mars Inc. announced.
Also revealed the brand’s new logo, which simply reads “Ben’s Original” in blue font over an orange background.
“We listened to our associates and our customers and the time is right to make meaningful changes across society,” Mars Food exec Fiona Dawson said in a statement. “When you are making these changes, you are not going to please everyone. But it’s about doing the right thing, not the easy thing.”
