Community in Focus: Adama Paris, Dakar Fashion Week & SAARGALE (@saargale)
Adama Ndiaye is the founder and creative director of several creative enterprises including fashion brand, Adama Paris, concept store SAARGALE, Dakar Fashion Week and other fashion events such as the Afrika Fashion Awards, and the Black Fashion Week in Prague, Paris, Bahia, and Montreal.
The Adama Paris brand represents more than a way of dressing: it also reflects the moods of contemporary women. Adama is also the founder of Dakar Fashion Week which showcases the cultural diversity of Africa while celebrating fashion. At these celebratory events, there are other activities than the catwalk to display stylists, like as crafts and music. The celebration currently takes place every year to honor black beauty and freedom of black women.
She launched the SAARGALE, a concept store, which debuted in 2019 beneath one of the vaults of the Viaduc des Arts, to showcase her designs, and the works of other African artisans and designers.
Adama’s success has become a great window to voice up for the promotion of African women in general, and more specifically female entrepreneurship in Senegal and Africa, as well as for promoting fashion made in Africa for the world abroad.
