Black Panther and so much more...   

AFRIFF (Africa International Film Festival) in Lagos, was the event to attend last November. AFRIFF hosted the African premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as well as Nikyatu Jusu's horror movie, "Nanny", winner of the Grand Jury Prize @ Sundance.

 

Ryan Coogler, Nicky Weinstock (president of Invention Studios) and Jeremy Zimmermann (Emmy-nominated casting director) shared invaluable pearls of wisdom during their masterclasses while Emad Eskander (Head of the Red Sea Fund) and Kaleem Aftab (Director of International Programming at Red Sea International Film Festival) came from Jeddah (KSA) to discuss their funds and programs to broaden horizons for African filmmakers. Wafa'a Halawi (multi-talented Lebanese filmmaker), and, Dana Stern (leading German-Israeli TV producer) brilliantly helmed the jury @AFRIFF.

 

Paramount, Amazon, Disney, Netflix, Showmax, Mediawan, DStv, the African Union, Canal Plus, Afreximbank and a host of global industry stakeholders attended to offer further opportunities to and sustain the growth of the African creative industry.

 

In conclusion, AFRIFF 2022, the 11th edition of the festival, was again another resounding success for the African film industry, under the direction of Ms. Chioma Ude, founder of AFRIFF and her team.
