Nairobi goes lower, as Jo’burg gains high on Stock Markets.

For stock investors in Major African stock markets like the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Egyptian Exchange, Kenya Securities Exchange, Ghana Stock Exchange, and Mauritius Stock Exchange, it has been a mixed bag of fortunes in terms of returns this year.

On the positives, investors in the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and that of Morroco (Bourse de Casablanca) have had reasons to smile.

Dangote Cement production hits 30mmt across Africa

Aliko Dangote, president, Dangote Group, has disclosed that the Dangote Cement annual production across Africa now stood in the region of 30 million metric tons (mmt), a feat that is earning Nigeria respect among the comity of nations.

Speaking at the just concluded Kaduna International Trade Fair, Dangote said “his conglomerate plans big for the African economy,” saying Africans must look inward and put their human and natural resources to best uses, rather than political conflicts.

Seplat Petroleum to comply with Nigeria’s existing laws, regulations on dividend payment

Seplat Petroleum Development Company on Friday assured shareholders that its dividend payment must be compliant with the country’s existing laws and regulations.

 

In a statement in Lagos by General Counsel, Dr Mirian Kene Kachikwu, the company said that the company irrespective of its diverse shareholder base would pay dividends to diverse shareholders in compliance with the applicable Nigerian laws and regulations.
