Ese speaks: "I am not fine"

The mother of 14-year-old Ese Oruru has finally reunited with her daughter in Abuja.

Ese Orusu
The Tuesday reunion came almost eight months after her abduction from Bayelsa to Kano State by Yunusa, aka Yellow, a regular customer at her mother’s food stall, in August last year.

In an exclusive, but brief chat with our correspondent at about 9.45pm, Ese sounded happy on the telephone.

She said, “Hello,” and laughed when our correspondent spoke to her.
“How are you?” Our correspondent asked. She laughed and replied ‘Fine.”
“We are glad you are safe and on your way back home.”
“Who is this,” she asked.
“How was your journey?”
“We have not started the journey, maybe tomorrow,” she said, probably referring to the onward trip to Bayelsa.
“Hope they treated you well and you are fine?”
“I am not fine,” she said curtly.
“Why?”
She replied, “When I come we should see. I don’t know you.”
“I will be looking forward to meeting you,” our correspondent replied.

Governorship Polls: Dickson ahead, wins in 4 LGs

YENAGOA—WITH official results from five of the eight local councils, Governor Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, emerged as the front runner in the Bayelsa State Governorship election having scored 81,929 votes.
He is closely being pursued by the All Progressives Congress, APC, standard bearer and immediate past governor of the state, Chief Timipre Sylva, who got 56,514 votes.
So far, results from 28 polling units in the five councils were cancelled due to electoral skirmishes, over-voting, malfunctioning card readers and violence.

 BAYELSA POLLS RESULT
While Dickson won in four of the five councils, Sylva had the upper hand in the battle for Brass, his local council. The councils that Dickson won were Sagbama, Yenagoa, Ekeremor, Kolokuma/Opokuma.

Fake DSS operative arrested in Bayelsa

Men of the Bayelsa State Command of the Department of State Services DSS have arrested a man, who have been parading himself as a staff of the service and swindling unsuspecting members of the public.

The suspect, Emmanuel Udo Akpan, aged 42, was dismissed from the Delta State Police Command in 2013 and had been on the police wanted list over alleged criminal activities bordering on impersonation and extortion of money from members of the public under the guise of facilitating their recruitment into the service.
Akpan, a father of five, yesterday at the DSS headquarters in Yenagoa confessed to the crime and pleaded with the authorities for leniency.
