Nigeria’s Federal Capital City, Abuja, will not remain the same from tomorrow, and the reason is obvious – AY, the multiple award-winning comedian is invading the city with his (usually sold-out) comedy and music concerts.
Branded, “AY Live, Abuja Invasion”, and billed to hold at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, the concert, according to the comedian, “is designed to satisfy the entertainment yearnings of lovers of comedy and music in the city with the invaluable and entertaining presence of Gordons, Bovi (aka Akpos of the AY show), I go Save, Klint D Drunk, Seyi Law, Bracket, MI, Kelly Hansome, Timaya, Dj Zeez, J Martins, Terry G and a host of others.”
Since the concert promos flagged off, Abuja residents have put a bug on AY’s official phone lines with frank calls of how “we cannot wait to see AY Live,” and how “we have bought and watched AY Live CDs, and appreciate AY’s out-of-the-box comedy concerts.”
Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus–Nzeribe, who was in Abuja last weekend, said thus:“I am really so proud of you and your achievements. People have been talking about the show here [in Abuja] and how they respect your work. I just want you to know I will always keep you in my prayers. Keep up the good work.”Stella (along side Kate Henshaw-Nuttal), was one of the MCs of AY Live, Lagos Invasion 2. On Sunday, her younger colleague, and City People’s Actress of the Year, Mercy Johnson is MC. She will be joined by Frank ‘the millionaire’ Edoho.
Sweet memories of AY Live, Lagos Invasion 2, still inhabits history as the first sold-out comedy event of its kind. The event, originally planned as a one-show concert, turned out a two-show feat, thanks to the overwhelming crowd that were obstinate in their resolve to be part of AY Live.
AY takes his pacesetting ingenuity to Abuja with a VIP Limo ride around town with artistes on the bill. At the event, he would be unveiling his new AY comedy & style magazine, which will be distributed free.
