Nigeria U-17 team, the
Golden Eaglets, on Sunday beat Guinea 4-0 on in Conakry to qualify for the next
round of the African Junior Championship on a 7-0 aggregate.
The Eaglets won the first
leg qualifier 3-0 in Calabar two weeks ago and with Sunday’s result, they have
set up a final qualifier with the winners of the match between Mali and Mauritania in November.
The Eaglets led 2-0 with
goals from Alhassan Ibrahim and Isaac Success in Sunday match.
Success scored again in the
second half to complete his brace while Musa Yahaya completed the rout with a
fourth goal.
Nigeria have won the U-17
World Cup thrice in 1985, 1993 and 2007, but the current team is proving to be
another strong side as they have not drawn or lost on the road and at home any
of their two qualifiers against Niger and Guinea. Scoring 17 goals and
conceding a goal in the process. Morocco will host the African
Junior Championship in April next year.
