The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation will begin camping today (Friday)
for its athletes in Abuja ahead of the Commonwealth Games holding in Glasgow,
Scotland.
The NWF said on Wednesday that coach Emmanuel Oshomah will head the
camping.
“All arrangements for the camping exercise have been concluded and it
is the beginning of our build up to Glasgow 2014. We may not have started in
time but we hope the technical crew will do a good job and recover lost time,”
the NWF said in a statement after its board meeting on Wednesday.
The board members of the weightlifting body commended NWF president
Chibudom Nwuche and the vice president Alhaji Yaya Mohammed for making funds
available for the camping.
Chairman of the board’s media committee, George Aluo said Nwuche and
his deputy demonstrated their desire to take weightlifting to greater heights.
“The camping is courtesy of the NWF president and the vice president.
They deserve commendation for aiding the athletes prepare for the Commonwealth
Games,” Aluo said.
