Look, up on the Web — it's a bird, it's a plane ... it's the first shot
of Henry Cavill in costume from "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of
Justice."
Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder unveiled the image, a set on a
rainy rooftop that appears to be in Batman's hometown of Gotham, in USA Today on Thursday.
The CGI thunderstorm doesn't seem to bother the iconic DC superhero,
who appears a little less wide-eyed than the version audiences saw in last
year's "Man of Steel" — that may be because Cavill is growing into
the costume, too.
"We've both created this guy and we can push him around a little
bit," Snyder told USA Today. "The more time I spend with
Henry, the more he's Superman to me."
Even though the superhero film doesn't hit theaters until
May 6, 2016, the publicity machine has proved more powerful than a locomotive.
Snyder tweeted a photo of Ben Affleck in his Batman costume
from the film's Detroit set on the first day of production a few weeks ago.
Israeli actress Gal Gadot has been lassoed into playing
Wonder Woman, with Jesse Eisenberg playing the role of scenery-chewing villain
Lex Luthor, in the movie, which also returns Amy Adams' Lois Lane and Laurence
Fishburne's Perry White from "Man of Steel."
Warner
Bros. Entertainment Ben Affleck is Batman in the movie, which builds towards a
‘Justice League’ film.
Warner Bros. has high hopes for "Dawn of Justice,"
in which Jason Momoa is rumored to have a cameo as Aquaman, setting up the
waterlogged superhero for a future "Justice League" flick.
A de-facto sequel to last year's "Man of Steel," "Dawn
of Justice" is the studio's answer to rival Marvel Studios' successful
"Avengers" franchise, which merges several individual superhero
franchises into one huge superhero team franchise.
"You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it's
Batman and Superman, let's just be honest," Snyder told USA Today. "I
don't know how you get bigger than that."
