A female jogger in the Indian city of Bangalore got her revenge after
she was targeted by a sex attacker.
Veena Ashiya Chindlur was on her daily run on Friday morning when a man
started harassing her.
But instead of letting the incident pass, she decided to take him on.
She ran after her attacker, caught up with him, made him kneel on the
floor as she kicked him and then reported him to the police.
He ran off, but Chindlur's friend captured the incident on her cell
phone and cops were able to nab the man just minutes after the attack happened.
"Around 9:30 a.m., my friend and I were jogging when he made
strange noises and eve-teased me," Chindlur
told the Bangalore Mirror.
"Eve-teasing" is an
Indian term for public sexual harassment or molestation.
"I tried to scare him by running after him. He tried to flee, but
I chased him and hit him. However, he managed to escape," she said.
Such attacks are a common occurrence in the central Indian city, but
Chindlur says her actions show women can hit back.
She said women are "unable to digest the fact that woman can also
retaliate", adding that hitting back at attackers "is just not
acceptable in our society".
Chindlur has become an instant hero in Bangalore and the video has
already clocked up thousands of views.
The attacker was identified as a 30-year-old K.R. Suryaprakash, who
allegedly made lewd gestures at Chindlur.
