After the eviction showdown of yesterday which saw the Maisamari and
Leonard families evicted from the academy, the remaining eight families -
Odigie, Dide, Oladapo, Williams, Nwaeze, Uzodinma, Utere and Unanka – went
straight back to work.
The dance director, Bimbo Obafunwa reviewed the previous class on
choreography with the family representatives. The class was concluded with a
mock battle. Down to the business of the day, Bimbo introduced them to a new
dance style - “Rhythm of Naija” and ushered in dance instructor Mr Sani
Imonikhe.
The instructor took the families through 23 different Naija dance
styles, including Shelenke Shoki, Azonto, Alingo, Etighi, Sekem and others. He
said the dance style is about bringing “your real feeling and expression of
happiness with every part of your body.”
Ebi Williams who won the dancer of the night at the previous show gave
all the families their order of performance and songs for Rhythm of Naija
showdown performance.
Under the supervision of the dance instructors, the different families
thereafter had rehearsals to fine tune their dance routines. An interview
session on their readiness for the “Rhythm of Naija” performance show was later
conducted.
In order to lighten the tension in the MDA academy, the families were
divided into different teams - Rock, Fresh, and Unstoppable - to compete in an
exciting mini-challenge tagged dodgeball. Co-host Segun ‘Lafup’ Ogundipe was
the referee for the night as team Rock emerged winner of the challenge.
