Patriotic Front (PF) Ndola District Chairperson for Women Alice Kafula
has commended President Edgar Lungu for appointing Inonge Wina as the country’s
Vice President.
Ms. Kafula noted that the appointment of Mrs Wina has cheered the women
in the district saying Mr. Lungu has followed the ideology for the late
President Michael Sata of appointing women to higher offices.
She added that considering women for such positions provides them with
a platform to effectively participate in the affairs of the country.
Ms. Kafula told ZANIS in Ndola today that women in the district and the
country as a whole should be humbled at this gesture from President Lungu.
She congratulated Ms. Wina on her new appointment and urged her to
continue working hard to ensure that living standards of women in the country
are upgraded.
Ms. Kafula further called on women across the country to support Ms. Wina as she executes her
duties as Vice President.
Meanwhile, PF Ndola Central Constituency Secretary Maxhildah
Mulasikwanda has advised President Lungu against looking at someone’s tribe as
he appoints people to various positions.
On January 25th, 2015, President Edgar Lungu appointed Inonge Wina as the
country’s vice President.
Ms. Wina, who was Gender and Child Development Minister becomes the
first woman Vice President since Zambia got her independence in 1964.
