Jordan Henderson
has agreed a new long-term contact at Liverpool and could sign the deal later this
week, talk SPORT has been told.
The Reds have remained silent on reports the vice-captain
was ready to pen a new five-year contract at Anfield.
However talkSPORT understands significant progress has been
made and the new deal could be announced by the end of the week.
Henderson, 24, joined Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011 and has become a pivotal
figure to manager Brendan Rodgers, as
looks to reshape his squad and plan for life after Steven Gerrard.
The imminent new deal would be a major boost for the Reds
boss in the wake of their FA Cup semi-final exit, while they also face an
uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League.
