Owen Farrell signs new 'long-term' contract extension with Saracens

Saracens have announced that England international fly-half Owen Farrell has signed a "long-term contract extension" with the Aviva Premiership club.
Farrell, 23, has clocked up more than 100 appearances for Saracens since making his first team debut in 2008.

Farrell made his comeback from a knee injury in last Saturday's European Champions Cup semi-final clash against Clermont Auvergne. He had been sidelined since January.

Saracens have announced that England international fly-half Owen Farrell has signed a "long-term contract extension" with the Aviva Premiership club

Farrell missed the entire Six Nations Championship as a result of his injury, with Bath's George Ford retaining the number 10 shirt throughout the tournament.

Farrell is set to be an integral part of England's World Cup campaign later this year, though, with a proven track record at Test level and as an established goalkicker.
Speaking his new deal, he said: "I'm chuffed (to have signed).
"I have loved every minute that I've had at Saracens, and how we've been going over the last few years. Hopefully, we can continue to get better and better.

"I owe a lot to this club, in terms of how I have improved as a player and how I've done in my career. Hopefully, I've given as much to the club in return.
"I am really looking forward to ripping into the rest of the season and the years ahead."

Farrell has won 29 England caps and he also featured on the 2013 British and Irish Lions tour, making an appearance off the bench in the third Test victory over Australia in Sydney.
Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall added: "Owen is one of the leading players in Europe, if not the world, so for him to commit his long-term future to the club is fantastic news.

"He is another player who has progressed through the ranks at Saracens to become a key player for club and country.
"He is a Saracen through and through, and his hunger and drive to keep on improving is exceptional.
"The whole club is looking forward to seeing him at Allianz Park over the coming years."
