A breast cancer patient hopes a photo of her boob will help save a life.
Days before she underwent a mastectomy, Lisa Royle posted a picture of her breast online,
showing the small dimples that prompted her diagnosis — and she urged
other women to be vigilant about checking their own breasts.
"I never thought I'd post a boob picture on Facebook but I thought I
would before it gets chopped off next week," the British woman wrote.
"So here it is..... This all that I found on my boob."
The photo showed "very subtle dimples" that "could easily be missed,"
she said. The almost unnoticeable marks were the first sign of her
cancer.
"Please take time to look at your boobs. It could save (your) life," she encouraged her Facebook friends.
The photo has been shared more than 57,000 times since Royle posted it on May 11.
Her husband, Craig, said his wife's surgery was a success and she's recovering well.
"Bit groggy from the morphine but in good spirits and should be home
later this evening. The support has blown us away so a massive thanks to
u al," he posted on Facebook on the day of her surgery, according to the Mirror.
Royle's sister has also set up an online donation page to raise funds as she recovers.
"Lisa has done a bloody great job of raising awareness about looking at your boobs," she wrote.
"The least we can do is help to get her a nice wig/bra and maybe some
spending money for her Florida 2016 holiday which I know she is
(focusing) on."
