Bosch, a leading global supplier of
technology services, on Tuesday opened a regional subsidiary in Nigeria
to address the nation’s infrastructure challenges and boost economic
activities.
Mr Markus Thill, Bosch Group’s President
for Africa, said in Lagos that the company’s subsidiary in Lagos had
developed power efficient products that would address the country’s
power challenges.
Thill said the company had developed
mobility solutions, industrial technology, consumer goods and energy and
building technology products that would improve the quality of life of
Nigerians.
He said the company would be established
in 10 African countries before the end of 2015 in Nigeria, South
Africa, Ghana, Angola, Algeria, Tunisia, Mozambique, Egypt, Morocco and
Kenya.
Thill said the company would focus on catering, food processing, energy and infrastructure industries.
He said it would work with local partners to produce products of interest to its customers in enhancing the nation’s economy.
Thill said the company “sees Africa in general and Nigeria in particular as an important long-term growth market”.
“By opening a location in Nigeria, we are taking a decisive step forward in expanding our presence in West Africa,” Thill added.
Thill said the company would partner
with Nigerian government to offer technical training and innovative
solutions in workshop and test equipment to operators of automotive
workshops throughout the country.
He said the company, in 2014, entered
into alliance with the National Automotive Council (NAC) to pave the way
for the development of technical automotive skills and establishment of
automotive workshops in Nigeria.
“Our partnership with the NAC demonstrates our long-term commitment to Nigeria,” he added.
Thill said the company would develop the
technical competences of the local workforce, especially in the
automotive industry for the mutual success of the Nigerian industry and
Bosch business.
