The task of sorting out the economic crisis is far from finished

 
Against the backdrop of the worsening economic situation in the country caused largely by the dwindling price of crude oil, a two-day retreat for governors of the 36 states of the federation and members of the National Economic Council (NEC) held last week at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. In his welcome address, President Muhammadu Buhari identified five key sectors which the country must focus on to revive the economy. Specifically, he said the challenges militating against development in agriculture, power, manufacturing, housing and health sectors must be squarely addressed to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.

Development of SMEs in Gov. Policies, Abuja Chamber tells Buhari

Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ABUCCI) has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to make the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector a top priority in his government policies.

Tony Ejikonyen, president of the Chamber, who made the call in Abuja, said SMEs over the years had been identified as the life wire of any economy in the world.

Prolong Fuel Scarcity’ caused as ‘Banks Responsible

NIGERIA- The non-cooperation of banks on the account of the debts they are owed by oil marketing companies will prolong the current fuel scarcity. This is in spite of assurances given to the marketers by the Federal Government that it would settled the outstanding payment.

This is even as the Petroleum Product and Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) is alleged to have reduced both the volume and number of marketers it has given licences for fuel importation, for the third quarter of the year.

World Bank Supports Ghanaian Economy With $500m

The World Bank Group's Board of Executive Directors yesyerday approved US$150 million budget support for Ghana.

The credit from the International Development Association (IDA) supports the First Macroeconomic Stability for Competitiveness and Growth Development Policy Financing (DPF).
The first of three development policy financing operations is aimed at helping the Government of Ghana stabilize its economy and shore up fiscal control by implementing financial policies and processes that are transparent and predictable.
