Raheem Sterling has disappeared up his own backside… and his agent is to blame

Sterling has fallen from fans’ favourite to public enemy number one after becoming embroiled in a contract row with the Merseyside club, and was booed by a section of England fans during the friendly clash with Ireland in Dublin on Sunday.

But Aldridge feels sympathy for the 20-year-old, who has struggled for form since the turn of the year, and has pointed the finger of blame at his trusted representative Ward for the situation his client finds himself in.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the Anfield legend said: “His agent has got to realise the predicament he has got this lad into. The way he has gone about handling the situation with Raheem is pathetic.
"Look after the lad. This is a baby. He had a real good spell from November to February and the lad has since just disappeared up his own backside. Yesterday [for England] epitomised what he has come to.

“He is a baby, he is only 20 years of age, and he has lost everything going for him at this moment in time. And it is purely down to his agent.
"Surely the agent could have sat down and come to an amicable arrangement with Liverpool.

“This lad is still serving his apprenticeship as a footballer. He is better off where he is and his agent should see this.
“I feel sorry for the lad because obviously he knows the agent well, he believes everything he says, and he is leading him down the garden path.”
