AMC Announces Zombie Spinoff Series Premiere date
This just in: There will be more blood, bodies and betrayal on "The Walking Dead" next season… for a change of pace.
AMC unveiled the first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con Friday for the
upcoming sixth season of the hit zombie drama, leaving attendees
screaming for all the right reasons.
The nearly four minutes of footage show that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and
his band of dwindling survivors face a possible challenge from his
long-lost friend Morgan (Lennie James) for control of the sort of safe
haven of Alexandria.
Fan favorite Norman Reedus, who plays the crossbow-wielding Daryl, told
the crowd that he prepares for his on-screen zombie slaying by
listening to a lot of Motorhead and drinking plenty of coffee, according
to the Hollywood Reporter.
He'll need it: The trailer was dominated by scenes involving enormous
zombie hordes in various states of decomposition, with Michonne (Danai
Gurira) getting plenty of workout for her sword arm. One of the
highlights is the sight of a shambling walker covered in vines.
Joining the cast are Ethan Embry and "Nurse Jackie" alum Merritt Weaver.
The news season debuts on AMC Oct. 11.
During Friday's panel, producers Robert Kirkman and Gale Anne Hurd also
announced a release date for the eagerly anticipated spinoff series,
"Fear the Walking Dead."
The 90-minute series premiere of the L.A.-based drama will debut on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 9 p.m.
