Your swimmers like one-night stands: Having sex with a new woman may produce better-quality sperm, suggests new research from the College of Wooster.
In the study, guys masturbated to seven porn flicks over the course of 2 weeks. (Not together, but each in the privacy of his own home.) The first six clips starred the same actress, but the seventh featured a different vixen.
Not only did the participants report climaxing faster after watching the unfamiliar woman, but their semen was higher in volume and more concentrated with healthy sperm.
The researchers can’t be sure of the reason, but they believe it could be an evolutionary adaptation that gave Paleolithic men a stronger ability to impregnate multiple partners—to ensure the survival of their bloodlines. (Of course in today’s world, this approach is generally frowned upon.)
This isn’t a PSA to go spread your seed, and it doesn’t necessarily mean anything funky happens to your sperm count when you’re in a monogamous relationship, says study coauthor Paul Joseph. But if nothing else, now you know the scientific reason new hookups can be so much fun.
