It’s just not Josh Duggar’s year.
First, he had to apologize amid reports that he molested girls — including his own sisters — as a teenager.
Then his Christian values TV show got canceled. Now, a hacking scandal
at an Internet infidelity site has forced the reality star to confess
what some have already surmised — that he is a hypocrite.
But not just any hypocrite.
“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever,” the embattled “19 Kids and
Counting” reality star wrote Thursday on the Duggar family’s website.
“While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last
several years been viewing pornography on the Internet and this became a
secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife.”
Duggar, 27, admitted to a series of affairs after hackers revealed that he was among tens of thousands of two-timers with accounts with the adulterous dating site AshleyMadison.com.
After a group of cybersnitches exposed 32 million Ashley Madison
accounts, Duggar tried to get ahead of the story, sharing more details
about his unholier-than-thou life than anyone needed to know.
Some of the seedier subjects had already surfaced, thanks to hackers who blew the whistle on the hanky-panky website.
On his account, according to the leaked details, Duggar wrote he was
looking for “Someone I Can Teach,” “Someone Who Can Teach Me” and
“Experimenting With Sex Toys.” Among his turn-ons, he listed
“Discretion/Secrecy” and “Has a Secret Love Nest.”
Records indicated Duggar spent $1,000 on sex services and kept his
account until earlier this year, while his wife, Anna, was pregnant with
their daughter, Meredith.
During that time, he also served as executive director of the conservative lobbying group Family Research Council Action.
Duggar said in his statement he had “re-broken” his family’s trust following his other major scandal this year.
“I deeply regret all hurt I have caused so many by being such a bad
example,” he said. “I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Please pray for
my precious wife Anna and our family during this time.”
Hours later, the statement was edited, removing Duggar’s porn addiction admission, along with a chunk apologizing again for the molestation he committed as a teen.
Duggar’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, posted the statement on behalf
of their son and wrote they had their “hearts broken” after learning
Wednesday night of his Ashley Madison affairs.
“As we continue to place our trust in God we ask for your prayers for
Josh, Anna, our grandchildren and our entire family,” they wrote.
