Acid attack victim becomes the new face of designer fashion brand

Laxmi Agarwal, a victim of a spurned suitor and an acid attack back in 2005, features in a Viva n Diva beauty campaign "Face of Courage".

An Indian woman brutalized and disfigured in an acid attack is now the new face of a fashion brand’s latest campaign.
Laxmi Agarwal, 26, will sport an array of elegant clothes for the Surat-India based Viva N Diva Couture’s new line.

At age 15, Agarwal’s life changed forever when a man she wouldn’t marry punished her by throwing a toxic mixture of corrosive chemicals at her face.

“We saw beauty in a very different way and all that we could think of was to capture it in a way that gave it meaning,” Viva N Diva Couture’s spokesman Ayushi Rastogi told the Hindustan Times of the “Face of Courage” campaign.
The goal is to expand the definition of style and fashion by spreading a positive message of beauty beneath the surface.

And Agarwal’s life is certainly one of beauty.
She managed to rise above her tragedy and became a fierce advocate for tougher punishments for those who commit acid attacks on women in India.Laxmi Agarwal, a victim of a spurned suitor and an acid attack back in 2005, features in a Viva n Diva beauty campaign "Face of Courage".
