Grammy nominated singer Kehlani Parrish attempted suicide following cheating rumors.
The “Did I” singer, 20, posted a photo of herself in a hospital bed Monday night
with an IV in her arm after she was publicly accused of being
unfaithful to her 24-year-old NBA star boyfriend Kyrie Irving.
“I wanted to leave this Earth. Being completely selfish for once. Never
thought I’d get to such a low point,” the R&B star wrote in a
since-deleted Instagram post.
The Oakland, Calif., native was reportedly found unconscious by her
friends at home. When she recovered, she immediately took to social
media to address rumors about why she wanted to end her life.
“Don’t believe the blogs you read. No one was cheated on and I’m not a
bad person,” Parrish, who was accused of cheating with rapper
ex-boyfriend Jahron Anthony Brathwaite, better known by the stage name
PARTYNEXTDOOR.
The singer claims she had already broken up with Irving when she got
back together with PARTYNEXTDOOR, who appeared to be at her bedside when
she awoke in the hospital.
"I am severely utterly in love with my first love. Went thru a bad
breakup and ended up easing into a relationship with a man who was one
of my bestfriends [Irving]. Tho we realized we both weren't exactly at a
time where we were prepared to do so," she proclaimed.
“Everyone is hurt and everyone is in a place of misunderstanding, but as
of today I had no single wish to see tomorrow ... but God saved me for a
reason, and for that I must be grateful cuz I’m not in heaven right now
for a reason,” she concluded, before deleting her Instagram account.
A slew of singers and fans reached out to show their love on social media.
“I support u Kehlani!! Love is love!” fellow R&B singer Keyshia Cole tweeted.
Parrish's music label Atlantic Records had no comment.
