All-you-can-eat fries to be offered at Missouri McDonald’s

Can I get a side of Lipitor with that?

A Missouri McDonald’s franchisee says he will offer all-you-can-eat French fries when his new restaurant opens later this year — part of a “McDonald’s of the future” configuration that features self-service ordering and personalized burgers.

Owner Chris Habiger has been touting his plans for Earth-tone decor, large kids play area and modern kiosks for placing an order, but the world has been focusing on one thing: the all-you-can-eat fries promise.

“The best news I ever heard on a Monday,” tweeted Rico Sangha, summarizing the reactions of thousands of Twitter users.
Of course, others had a different take.
“Something is wrong with America,” tweeted Scott Ford, concerned that McDonald’s was pulling back from healthier options.
Habiger did not address the fulsome fries issue, sticking to his proposed restaurant’s overall look and feel.

“Today’s customers seek a comfortable and inviting atmosphere,” he told the News-Press in St. Joseph, Mo. “So we’re committed to providing a modern look and feel to this restaurant.”
A large order of fries comprises 510 calories, with 24 grams of fat, or slightly more than one-third of a person’s recommended daily intake.
The franchise is set to open in July.
