Ozzy Osbourne has resurfaced.
The Black Sabbath rocker was spotted in public – still wearing his
wedding ring – for the first time Monday since reports emerged over the
weekend claiming his 33-year marriage to Sharon Osbourne is
disintegrating.
The heavy metal icon, who was photographed carrying his dog during the
outing in Los Angeles, also assured fans he hadn’t fallen off the wagon
amid the drama swirling around his relationship.
"I have been sober for three and a quarter years," he told E! News
Saturday in a phone interview posted Monday. "I have not touched drugs
or alcohol in that time. Any reports that I am not sober are completely
inaccurate."
Osbourne’s return to the spotlight came just hours after his estranged
wife skipped the live broadcast of her show “The Talk.” Her co-host
Julie Chen addressed her absence at the beginning of the talk show.
"There were many tabloid headlines this weekend about Sharon and her
husband Ozzy, rumors and speculation that they have split up after 33
years of marriage," her co-host Julie Chen said on Monday's show.
"Sharon understandably took today off," she continued. "We are sending
all of our love to her and to her family, and we ask that you do the
same."
Multiple outlets reported over the weekend that Ozzy had agreed to move out of the family home, with a source telling People that Sharon suspected the rocker was having an affair.
On Monday, an insider told the magazine that Sharon was feeling "pretty down."
"I don't know how much more she can take," the insider told People. "It just weighs you down."
It's not the first time Ozzy and Sharon, who co-starred on MTV's
reality series "The Osbournes" from 2002 to 2005, have found themselves
the subject of break up rumors.
The couple faced speculation that their marriage was crumbling three years ago, prompting both to downplay the drama.
Ozzy took to Facebook
in April 2013 to say he and his longtime spouse were "not divorcing,"
while also revealing he had been battling substance issues in recent
months. He added he was 44 days sober at the time.
A week later, Sharon refuted the rumors on her talk show.
"Everything that has been printed in the tabloids has been distorted,"
she said on "The Talk." "There's always a little seed of truth to
everything that gets reported, but then it gets very distorted."
