Newly crowned Gospel Song Of The Year winner, Nicholas Omane Acheapong
has said one does not have to always move from one radio station to the
other soliciting for votes before he wins an award.
Omane Acheamong in an interview with Andy Favoured on Accra FM’s Gospel 360 said a good song speaks for itself.
“A good song will automatically win an award and one does not have to go secure a loan from the bank to vote in order to win an award,” the Aporsor singer said on the gospel entertainment show.
When asked to mention names of artistes who went for loan to vote, Nicholas who beat SP Kofi Sarpong, Obaapa Christy, Patience Nyarko, Preachers and Joe Mettle to win the award refused to mention the names of such musicians. He was however quick to buttress an allegation by Patience Nyarko that Charterhouse gave the award to musicians who did not campaign for votes.
Nicholas Omane Acheampong averred that Ghanaians voted for his song because of its quality and the dedication he put into his songs.
Gospel 360 is aired every Sunday on Accra 100.5 FM from 1 to 3pm.
