Akwa Ibom Doctors Mark Physicians' Week 2016

The Nigerian Medical Association, Akwa Ibom State Branch has kicked off activities for its annual Physicians' week slated to hold between October 23rd to October 29th, 2016.
The theme for this year's commemoration is Health Care in a Frail Economy: Challenges and way forward.

The week kicked off officially with a Thanksgiving Service for a successful year medical of practice by Doctors in Akwa Ibom State at Winners Chapel, Uyo.
According the chairman of the planning committee, Dr Tiemah Akpabio, the keynote address will be delivered by former House of Representatives Member, Dr Esio Oquong Udo at the NMA house on Tuesday October 25. 

That will be followed by the launch of AKS NMA quarterly Magazine "Doctor On Call" and launch of the NMA website.
Speaking in a press parley, the Chairman of the Association, Dr Aniekeme Uwah revealed that Doctors will embark on a road work on Wednesday October 26 to create awareness for the implementation of the National Health Act. He also noted that Akwa Ibom doctors will be embarking on free medical out reaches at health center at ikot ayan ikono, ward 9 ,Uyo from October 26th to 28th and urged members of the public to make use of the rare opportunity as there will be free Surgeries, diagnosis and medical care.
To keep fit, doctors practicing in Akwa Ibom will play a friendly games , including a novelty football match against the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) on October 28 at west Itam sports complex.
Dr Uwah who also doubles as Chairman south south caucus of the NMA hinted that at half time during the friendly match, there will be a raffle draw which the star prizes include an i Phone 7 , Flat Screen TVs, Generators amongst other numerous mouth watering prizes.

The event will be rounded up with a Continuing Medical Education (CME) , luncheon and fund raising dinner at  Helemah event center on Saturday, October 29th 2016.
The Association invites all members of the public to be part of the epoch making events.
