It's unlikely Kim Kardashian will ever get back the millions of
dollars' worth of jewelry stolen from her in last year's terrifying
Paris heist, according to a new report.
French authorities are confident the items burglarized from
Kardashian's hotel room last October have already been either melted
down or recut and peddled on the black market, a Paris police source
told Us Weekly.
Cops also reportedly believe that the 15-digit code, as well as an
Adidas logo, that Kanye West had engraved onto Kardashian's ring for
identification were detached by a laser.
Kardashian was robbed of more than $5 million in jewelry last October
after armed intruders broke into the Paris residence where she was
staying during Fashion Week.
Authorities arrested 17 people in connection to the high-profile crime last week and charged 10 of them.
Kardashian detailed the horrific break-in
-- during which the intruders bound and gagged her in the bathroom
before fleeing with the jewelry -- in a chilling statement to cops hours
after the break-in on Oct. 2, according to French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche.
"He took out a gun and I showed him the ring. He had gloves,"
Kardashian reportedly told police, according to the statement released
by the newspaper. "He asked me where the jewels and the money were. And
at that point, they tied me up and put plastic cables and scotch tape on
my hands, and then taped my mouth and my legs."
Kardashian kept an uncharacteristically low profile in the first three
months after the harrowing ordeal but has returned to social media in
early 2017. She also made her first public appearance last week at a
makeup tutorial in Dubai.
Then earlier this week, the reality star and her half-sister Kendall Jenner filmed a cameo
in New York City for the upcoming thriller "Ocean's Eight." Her
inclusion in the film is somewhat surprising, given that it centers on a
jewelry heist at the Met Gala, according to People.
