Lady Gaga’s rules for her Super Bowl show are simple enough so far: no politics and keep your clothes on.
The “Joanne” singer has reportedly been told she’s not allowed to get political when she performs at NRG Stadium next month.
“Lady Gaga was told by the NFL that she cannot say anything or bring
anything up about the election, or mention Donald Trump,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.
A rep for the NFL, however, told the gossip website that was "nonsense
from people trying to stir up controversy where there is none."
"The Super Bowl is a time when people really come together," the league
said in a statement. "Lady Gaga is focused on putting together an
amazing show for fans and we love working with her on it; we aren’t
going to be distracted by this."
Gaga was an outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter leading up to the election.
She protested outside Trump Tower in the early morning of Nov. 9 after the election was called.
“I want to live in a #CountryOfKindness,” she wrote on Twitter. “He
divided us so carelessly. Let's take care now of each other.”
A behind-the-scenes look at the singer’s performance, released Tuesday evening by Pepsi, showed teased the Super Bowl show.
“It will be special because I’ve been planning this since I was 4,” Gaga said.
“For me, it’s all about giving to the fans and bringing people together that wouldn’t normally be together.
“It’s been done so many times that the challenge is to look at it and say ‘what can I do differently?’”
Richy Jackson, who was the visual director for Gaga’s 2012 Born This Way tour, will also choreograph her halftime show.
“You’re going to see a humble, appreciative yet showmanship side of Gaga,” he said. “A new face. A different kind of energy.”
Insiders told the Daily News last month that the “Bad Romance” singer
promised to stay covered up on stage as TV and league executives fear a
repeat of Janet Jackson’s Nipplegate.
