The pop superstar took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce she’s pregnant with twins.
The “Crazy in Love” singer wrote that she and husband Jay Z “have been blessed two times over.”
“We would like to share our love and happiness,” the 35-year-old wrote.
“We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and
we thank you for your well wishes.”
Queen Bey also shared a photo in which she wears a veil over her face and is touching a baby bump in a two-piece lingerie set.
The couple already has one child — 5-year-old Blue Ivy.
Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, also shared the pregnancy news on Instagram with the same photo of her daughter.
“WOW I don’t have to keep the secret anymore,” she wrote. “I am soooo, happy God is so good, twin blessings.”
Within 45 minutes of the news, Twitter had already reached 500,000 posts about the surprise.
R&B star Rihanna congratulated the pair, calling Jay Z her “big brother.”
“So excited about this news!!! Congratulations to you @Beyoncé and my big brother Jay!!!!” she wrote.
Rita Ora — who was rumored to be Jay Z’s mistress based off a line in
Beyoncé’s song “Sorry” — called the star “soooo beautiful” in the
announcement photo.
It’s not the first time Beyoncé subtly shocked fans with pregnancy news.
Following her performance at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, Beyoncé
opened her jacket, showed off her bump and demanded the crowd stand up.
“I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me,” she shouted.
Blue Ivy Carter was born to Bey and Jay Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, in January 2012.
The “Formation” singer has been the subject of a bizarre conspiracy
theory that her first child was actually conceived via a surrogate. She
told People that the rumors didn’t hurt her — but were definitely
bizarre.
