For years, the Eko Convention Centre has
been the venue for the biggest shows in the country. This is bound to
continue, but with a subtle difference. Eko Hotels and Suites are moving
from just leasing out the Convention Centre to hosting their own
events. There were a couple of dry runs last year. The successful
results mean Eko is going all out with plans to hold the biggest and
most colourful shows this year.
First off the mill is Eargasm, a
collaboration between the hotel and Buckwyld Media Network. Described as
“An evening of classic renditions and pleasant surprises,” Eargasm
features a collection of Nigerian artistes renowned especially for their
vocal skills and live performances. Their brief is to gratify the
desires of music lovers and couples during Valentine’s.
According to EfeOmorogbe of Buckwyld,
the artiste line-up includes arguably the biggest name in game in 2face,
the hottest kid on the block (Tekno) and everything in-between. These
include Timi Dakolo, Adekunle Gold, Yinka Davies, Niyola, Kelly Hansome,
Acetune and Chord.Golden oldie Sir Shina Peters is also on the bill, as
well as DJ Neptune, the comedian, Bovi and a surprise guest act.
According to 2face, Eargasm will be
different from all other events this month because it will be classy and
“like the name suggests, ear-blowing.”Omorogbe further explained that
Buckwyld’s concerts are unique in the way they are scripted. Eargasm is
expected to be one mind-blowing experience – like an enthralling movie –
rather than a collection of individual performances.
But Eko’s promise of an orgasmic
experience does not end with Saturday’s (February 11) concert. Rather,
it is the precursor to a Valentine weekend that climaxes with a themed
evening across six restaurants within the hotel on February 14.
Eko’s size and varied offerings mean you
could be “transported” to a country of your choice through different
culinary experiences available at the hotel. The Sky Restaurant is a
fusion of French and Asian cuisine, the Grill Steakhouse is American,
Red Restaurant is Chinese, Crossroads is Mexican, 1415 restaurant at Eko
Signature is Italian, while the Lagoon Breeze restaurant offers
continental dishes.
Each restauranthas special Valentine
deals unique to them with prices from just under N40,000 to N250,000.
They range from buffet-style candlelight dinner for two by the pool, to
in-room dining at Signature with a butler on hand. And everything
in-between.
The common thread running through all
restaurant packages include multiple-course candlelight
dinner, complimentary glasses of wine or champagne (or in the case of
Crossroads, free magaritas and tequilas) and probably the most exciting
of all, a surprise gift for the lady.
Speaking on what promises to bea few
days of sonorous music, rich international cuisines and purpose-crafted
accommodation, Eko Hotel’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Iyadunni Gbadebo
added, “We have the Spa and they have put together something beautiful
for Valentine’s. We are going to have room packages available with
massages. It will fun. We advise couples to book ahead.”
