‘Golden Girls’ themed cafe now open in Washington Heights

Here's one way to thank someone for being a friend.

Take a pal and confidant over to the new “Golden Girls”-themed eatery, La Rue Cafe, now open for breakfast and lunch in Washington Heights (4396 Broadway).

The cafe is an ode to the beloved American sitcom — which aired from 1985 to 1992 — with retro palm tree wallpaper reminiscent of Blanche’s fancy bedroom, and photos from the show.
Expect fan favorites like Dorothy's salty caramel cheesecake, and a coconut Betty White cake — an homage to the 95-year-old Golden Girl who played the good natured, but hilariously naive, Rose Nylund.

Owner Michael J. LaRue was pals with the late Rue McClanahan, who portrayed the lusty Southern belle Blanche Devereaux, and has adorned the restataurant with memorabilia he inherited from the show.

LaRue told Gothamist cafe hours are 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and dinner service will soon follow.
