Caitlyn Jenner finally broke her silence on President Trump’s move to
end federal guidelines that directed public schools to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms and locker rooms matching their gender identities.

“I have a message for the trans kids of America: you’re winning. I know
it doesn’t feel like it today or every day, but you’re winning,” Jenner
said in a video Thursday night. “Very soon, we will win full freedom
nationwide and it will be with bipartisan support.”
The former Olympian’s optimism came a day after White House Press
Secretary Sean Spicer argued that the decision about protections should
be made by the states instead.
Jenner, meanwhile, was told by the then-candidate in April that she
could use any bathroom in Trump Tower she wanted — Trump extended the
invitation as North Carolina banned people from using public bathrooms
that didn’t match their sex.
Jenner took him up on his offer, she revealed at the Time 100 Gala in April.
“Now I have a message for the bullies: you’re sick. And because you’re
weak, you pick on kids or pick on women or anyone else who’s vulnerable.
Apparently even becoming attorney general isn’t enough to cure some
people of their insecurities,” she said, calling out Jeff Sessions.
“As proof, the Supreme Court will soon hear a very important Title IX
case, thanks to the courage of a very brave young man, Gavin Grimm. Mr.
President, we’ll see you in court.”
Grimm, a 17-year-old transgender student who sued his Gloucester, Va.,
school board for banning him from using the boys’ bathroom, will take
oral arguments to the Supreme Court on March 28, despite Trump’s recent
ruling.
“If anything, the confusion caused by this recent action by the
Department of Justice and the Department of Education only underscore
the need for the Supreme Court to bring some clarity here,” American
Civil Liberties Union attorney Joshua Block told reporters Thursday.
Speaking directly to the President, Jenner implored him to reconsider his actions.
“Finally, I have a message for President Trump. From one Republican to
another, this is a disaster and you can still fix it,” she said. “You
made a promise to protect the LGBTQ community. Call me.”
Prior to his election, Jenner spoke glowingly of Trump, telling Colorado medical magazine STAT in June that he “seems very much behind the LGBT community.”
