The
cardinal objective of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA),Akwa Ibom
State branch is to cater for the welfare of her members and also partner
with the government in the enhancement of health care delivery.
To
this end, Dr Aniekeme Uwah, Chairman NMA Akwa Ibom State branch will
commission the first ever NMA CLINIC as part of the activities lined up
by to mark his first 365 days in office.
1. Free medical consultations for members and other members of the public.
2. Free blood pressure checks for members at least once every quarter( during general meetings).
3. Free blood sugar checks for members who may so desire.
4. Free weight checks for members.
5. Free PSA assay for members.
6. Free eye check ups for members.
7. Free dental check ups for members.
8. Free antenatal care services for members and other members of the public.
9. Free health education and awareness creation.
According
to Dr Uwah, the objective of setting up the clinic is to help reduce
the morbidity and mortality amongst NMA members due to illnesses ( since
they are always very busy and most times forget to check their own
health status ) and to also make qualitative health services more
affordable,accessible and available to members( especially those yet to
be gainfully employed) and other members of the public, especially, the
less privileged.
Dr
Uwah revealed that the association will be willing to partner with
other members who owned private clinics, pharmacies and laboratories who
shared in the vision.
The
AK NMA chairman on behalf of the State Officers Committee (SOC) of the
Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Akwa Ibom State branch expressed his
sincere appreciation to all for the support and cooperation in the last
352 days of his 721- Day tenure.
