Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) has returned to the fold of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) after five years of walking out of the national Christian umbrella body over some irreconcilable differences.
Since the emergence of Dr. Samson Ayokunle as the CAN President, he has been working hard behind the scene to ensure the return of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) to the fold.
CBNC President, Most Rev Ignatius Kagama, had led the leadership of CBNC to CAN national secretariat last year where in a meeting with Ayokunle’s team, he identified grey areas and assured of their readiness to work with the new CAN leadership.
History was made last week with the attendance of the Catholic delegation led by Prof. Cornelius Omonokhua who represented Kagama at the expanded CAN National Executive Committee/Quarterly meeting for the amendment of the constitution.
In a statement by CAN president's Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Adebayo Oladeji, Ayokunle expressed his joy over the new development.
