Katsina Elders: Why We Met with Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari weekend in Daura held a 'private' meeting with Katsina State Elders Forum. The State Governor, Aminu Masari, said the elders visited Buhari to show solidarity. 

"They were here to identify with his (President's) hopes

and aspirations and with his efforts at putting Nigeria in proper shape...and to use their connections to get more support for him." He explained that “the elders forum will consider the possibility of replying the recent letter by former president Olusegun Obasanjo to Buhari," saying: “We intend to place an advertorial in the national dailies to respond to the issues he (Obasanjo) raised. 

 

The response will not be long in coming; it will be very soon." Sources closed to the meeting, besides, disclosed that the elders' deliberations principally touched on many knotty national issues.

"The letter written by former president Obasanjo was a major fulcrum of their discourse. 

The issue of voters' card was raised and it was agreed that massive mobilisation must be done to encourage eligible voters to participate in the voters registration exercise." 

Elders at the meeting include Emir of Daura, Dr. Umar Farouq Umar, Alhaji Isah Katsina, Alhaji Abidu R. Yazid among others.
