Former president Olusegun Obasanjo; President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba; and a leader of Coalition of Nigerians Movement (CNM) in Ogun State, Dr. Doyin Okupe have debunked the news report making rounds that Obasanjo has made a u-turn on Workers' Day and declared support for President Muhammadu Buhari's second term bid.
An online news platform yesterday reported that Obasanjo had changed his mind to support Buhari's second term bid while addressing the Wabba-led NLC leadership in Abuja.
The report also stated that "Obasanjo told the NLC leadership that he watches with great admiration the superlative performances of President Buhari during the interactive session with US President, Donald Trump at the Oval Office in Washington DC..."
But in a swift reaction, Obasanjo, in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, described the news items as "deliberate falsehoods aimed at hoodwinking the unsuspecting Nigerians," adding that "Chief Obasanjo never met any Labour man or woman on May 1, 2018 to make any supposed volte face to..."
