So academia say they have knowledge; industry say they have money; government say they have power.
Knowledge, money and power intoxicates.
Intoxication creates an ego trip and ego creates a gorge. Here in lies the fundamental problem.
However, an academic feels most achieved when made a consultant to industry or government; a CEO feels honoured when awarded a honorary doctorate degree; a government official feels fulfilled when he strikes a PPP deal or delivers a convocation lecture. So in some sense, they like each other but yet don't work together. What exactly is the problem?
Government regulates academia and controls industry and so sits in the best position to bridge these gaps through policy. However, when government fails, all parties must take this partnership bull by the horns because the survival of Africa depends on it.
WHAT DO YOU SEE? A challenge or an opportunity? It’s all about perspectives!!
