As part of the BBC Africa governorship debates for the 2019 general
elections, governorship candidates for the Akwa Ibom gubernatorial polls
went head to head on their policy plans.
The candidates present at the debates were Iboro Otu of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP); Ezekiel Nya Etok of the Young Democratic Party (YDP); Ekong Eyo of the Peoples Progressive Party (PPP); and Nature Udoh of the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
The candidates spoke on issues across Economy, Education, Health, Infrastructure, and Jobs in pidgin.
Governor Udom Emmanuel of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Nsima Ekere of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Emmanuel
notified organisers of his absence one day to the debate and Ekere, two
days to the debate. They both were invited 2 months prior to the
debate.
