MY VISIT TO KINGS FLOUR MILL in Akwa Ibom State : Aniekeme Finbarr

My visit to Kings Flour Mill Ltd, Mkpok was very revealing. They are the largest producers of flour in Europe.

Their factory in

Akwa Ibom State has a production capacity of 5000 tons of wheat a day, and 4000 tons of flour a day. Their silos, 15,000 tons capacity.

It was an exciting walk from the gate to the emergency unit, the administrative blocks, apartments for expatriates, the tunnels for the raw wheats, the warehouses, the five different floors on the main industry building housing very Hi-Tech automated production, processing and packaging machines.

What I thought will take 15 minutes took 3 hours and I felt like starting all over again. This factory will create jobs and bring fine flour and semolina closer to our markets. That's good news for bakers and better news for people who prefer semo to fufu or Garri.
