Pinterest Narrows Ad Focus to Match Users’ Interest

Image bookmarking service Pinterest Inc. is scaling back the breadth of its advertising ambitions, focusing more on attracting dollars from retailers and consumer packaged-goods companies while de-emphasizing other marketing categories.

In a September letter to ad buyers reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, the company said it would no longer offer hands-on support, such as consultation from sales executives, to marketers outside the core areas of retail and consumer goods.

Nigeria PZ Cussons announced full year Pretax Profit Palls

PZ Cussons Nigeria said on Monday its full year pretax profit fell 5.6 percent to N6.55 billion ($33 million) versus the previous year.
 
Revenue rose to N73.12 billion from N72.90 billion a year earlier in the year ended May 31, the local unit of British soap and shampoo maker PZ Cussons said in a statement.

Asda pledges to pay supplier 28per a litre

The chain says it will commit to paying 28p per litre for 100% of its liquid milk throughout its entire range.
It is less than the 30-32p farmers estimate it costs to produce each litre but the farming union welcomed it.

Asda's announcement comes after protests by dairy farmers at branches of Asda, Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi over the price they are paid for their milk.

Nigerians Coca-Cola Consumption goes high as Sales surge offset Russia woes---

Shares in Coca-Cola HBC AG to surged yesterday ,after the second-largest bottler of Coke products said strong sales in Nigeria, Romania and Ukraine were more than making up for its struggles in Russia, the company’s biggest market reports Bloomberg.

While revenue at the Switzerland-based distributor fell 1 percent in the first half of 2015 because of currency effects, net income increased 31.7 percent to 125 million euros ($139 million), the company said in a statement Thursday. Sales volume rose 3.8 percent.

Headwinds stunt Unilever growth prospects

Unilever Nigeria plc, a firm in the fast moving consumable goods sector, has been grappling with macro-economic challenges as 2014 financial results showed the company taking a hit at both topline and bottomline.

For the year ended December 2014, Unilever’s profit after tax dropped by 49 percent to N2.41 billion from N4.72 billion the same period of corresponding year (2013), while sales fell by 7 percent to N55.75 billion.
The foundering performance of the consumer goods giant is attributable to the security challenges in Northern part of the country and intense competition combined with the naira volatility.
