Everton and Southampton are
set to battle it out for the signature of Juventus star Kwadwo Asamoah in the January
transfer window.
The Premier League
pair are tracking the Ghana international who has failed to hold down a regular
first-team berth in Massimiliano Allegri's side since joining in July 2012.
According to Tuttosport, the 25-year-old versatile
midfielder is unhappy in Turin and could favour a move to the Premier League.
Representatives from both the Toffees and the Saints have
scouted the former Udinese man but Asamoah's
£15m valuation could prove a stumbling block over any future deal.
Asamoah's existing contract at the Juventus Stadium runs
until June 2018 and sources close to Juve suggest he may be allowed to go out
on loan before making a permanent switch to another club.
