Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has been hit with an improper conduct charge by the
Football Association after his touchline spat with Hull counterpart Steve Bruce.
The 47-year-old Uruguayan was sent to the stands during
Tuesday night's 1-1 draw at the KC Stadium for protesting a yellow
card shown to Jack Rodwell for diving, and was then involved in
an altercation with the Tigers chief on his way from the dugout.
Poyet has until 6pm on March 9 to respond to the charge,
which is understood to relate to kicking over a water cooler full of drinks
rather than the confrontation with Bruce, which both men played down after the game.
An FA statement read: "Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has
been charged by the FA following the game against Hull City on 3 March 2015.
"It is alleged that his behaviour in the 35th minute of
the fixture amounted to improper conduct.
"Meanwhile, Hull manager Steve Bruce has been contacted
by The FA in relation to the same incident and formally reminded of his
responsibilities."
