Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has put to rest any rumours that
Oscar is set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer and insists the Brazilian
will still be at the club next season.
The 23-year-old had been linked with a move away from West
London in recent weeks as it appeared that he had fallen out of
favour with the manager, but Mourinho was keen to set that straight.
When asked if the Brazilian would be staying at Stamford
Bridge beyond the end of the season he replied: "Of Course"
He added: "He just signed a contract a few months ago
where he is one of the players with the best contracts, where he his one of the
players with long-term contracts."
Oscar joined the Blues in the summer of 2012 when then
manager Roberto Di Matteo signed him for £25million from Brazilian side,
Internacional after impressing with his national side at the London 2012 Olympics.
After featuring consistently in his first two seasons at
Stamford Bridge, Oscar hasn't completed a full 90 minutes for Chelsea since
their 1-1 draw with Manchester City at
the end of January. Since that he has only featured either coming off the bench
or being substituted before full-time.
Although the Brazilian has contributed with six goals and
seven assists in 26 Premier League
appearances for the Blues this season, that hasn't been enough to keep him in
the team. And he has been linked with a move, with Mourinho reportedly
considering buying Enner Valencia from West Ham to replace him.
However, it now appears that Mourinho has no intention of
selling Oscar.
"The boy is 23-years-old and Chelsea bought him when he
was a kid three years ago; obviously he is in the best period of the career,
obviously we don't want to sell."
