Don Draper just might be TV’s ultimate ladies’ man.
The thrice-married ad exec didn’t let marriage vows get in the way of
his extramarital affairs, bedding more than 20 women — from
stewardesses, secretaries and call girls — over the course of seven
seasons.
Don was never wanting for female attention, but his insatiable appetite usually blew up in his face.
Most notably, his second wife Betty ended their marriage largely in
part of his cheating ways; his dependable secretary Allison quit after
their ill-advised fling; and his daughter Sally was devastated after
walking in on him having sex with his neighbor Sylvia Rosen
Yet for all his conquests, Don inevitably ends up alone.
“You only like the beginnings of things,” ex-girlfriend Dr. Faye Miller
told Don after he dumped her, succinctly summing up his relationship
issues.
It remains to be seen whether Don can find lasting happiness before the series ends. But judging from his track record, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Don ends the series, not as a ladies’ man, but a lonely one.
