Billionaire John Catsimatidis claimed on his radio show Sunday that
former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush planned to launch his presidential campaign
Monday.
But the supermarket mogul’s tidbit was quickly denied by the potential candidate’s team.
“I have found out that Gov. Jeb Bush will be announcing on Monday. And
that’s quite interesting news,” the former mayoral candidate said on his
show on AM970.
But Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell quickly answered a Daily News
inquiry about the gossip and said his comments were “not accurate.”
Whenever the likely Republican candidate’s official launch comes,
Catsimatidis likes his chances. “I think Jeb is the frontrunner,” said
the businessman, who has donated to a super PAC backing Bush.
He didn’t reveal how he got wind of the supposed announcement, saying only, “That’s what I hear.”
