Mark Bosnich says former star Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin will transform Manchester United into title contenders

That is the view of former United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich, who believes the midfield duo will fit perfectly into Louis van Gaal’s side.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, he said: “They are two wonderful signings and I really do think that puts them in the shake-up [for the title], along with Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal. It is lining up to be a fantastic season in the Premier League."

Schweinsteiger will turn 31 next month and there are plenty who feel the Germany captain could be on the decline, but Bosnich is adamant he still has plenty to offer.

“He is a fantastic signing,” continued the ex-Australia international. “A lot of people have said maybe his best years are past him but he has looked after himself so well.

“Throughout his career we have seen massive progress in the way he has played and the way he has handled himself and I think he will be a perfect fit for what Van Gaal wants to do at United, along with Schneiderlin.”
