Second time is the charm.
Couples should have sex twice within an hour if they want to improve their chances of getting pregnant, new research reveals.
Conventional wisdom long suggested that men should abstain from sex
before attempting to impregnate their partners to accumulate more sperm —
but all that does is pump out lots of old sperm.
“The double ejaculation is significant because ... of the quality,”
said Dr. Gulam Bahadur of North Middlesex University Hospital and lead
author of the study.
Pregnancy rates for a standard artificial insemination are 6%, but the
rate rose to 20% when the men in the study produced a second sample of
semen within the hour.
